David Cameron says,

“We need strong families, we need youth clubs, we need things to divert people away from crime”.

His councils tell a different story.

Like Tory Hammersmith & Fulham which has closed and sold a youth club – Castle Road Youth Club in Hammersmith was closed in November 2007.

Paying for essential care

Conservative Hammersmith & Fulham broke a manifesto commitment to
bring in a new £12.40 home care charge for essential care. A leaked council
email
shows that people receiving care said they had to go without after
receiving the bill, meaning that only those who can pay get the services they
needed.

No help now in Harlow

Tory Harlow refused to implement the Government’s offer of funding, as part of ‘Real Help Now’, to halve rent increases for council tenants in 2009.

Despite councils getting money from the Government to improve advice
services that people need on debt and the Labour Government help available during the recession, Harlow cut funding for the local Harlow Advice Centre by 80%, cutting opening hours and staffing – at a time when its services are needed most.
